Esther Francis, owner, CBIC Construction and Development LP
Esther Francis interviews with the Houston Business Journal and discusses her approach to overcoming challenges, what it was like to be a minority, women-owned business to work on a major construction project in Houston for the first time, and what inspires her.
From the article:
“We had an intern in our office. She was actually a law student. When she left, she left me a note, and she told me thank you for the opportunity to work with me. Her father had a business a construction roofing company. Because of working with us, she said that she’s actually going to go back to school, and finish her degree. When her father’s ready to transition, she’s going to take that business and continue it. For me, who didn’t have any role models to look up to as a woman female in construction, much less a black female in construction, it inspires me that I can reach out to the young people and let them know, ‘Look, you can do it.’ I came from low upbringings too. That inspires me to keep going. If I stop, then they won’t have anyone to look up to.”
